WARBLERS IN WATERCOLOR
Winslow Art Center (Online)
Thursdays, March 12, March 19, April 2 & April 9, 2026
3:00 pm-5:00 pm Pacific Time, 6:00 pm-8:00 pm Eastern Time
Warblers are of some of America’s most colorful, tuneful, and beguiling songbirds. Learn to paint them – and perhaps to recognize a few species as they wing their way back from Central and South America this spring to breed and spend the summer in the U.S. and Canada. This class will hone your ability to sketch birds accurately, mix colors more confidently, and paint birds in a variety of positions. We’ll paint several warbler species over the course of the four sessions and explore options for adding text, such as titles, labels, natural history notes, and a short poem.

Hello Jean, I studied with Marilee Nielsen in Orange County, CA where we did a project based on your journaling. I’ve watched your you tube workshop with kids and drew along with your collections. But why I am writing, is I cannot quite master or get a teacher on line to help me with layering although I sent a partial picture of your poppy and green bud where you have three or more layers overlapping. I am obsessed with learning how to do this as I usually am disappointed in my watercolors although I can draw well. Will you please teach an on-line workshop in watercolor?
On my laptop it is difficult to see unless an instructor has a close camera to watch the technique. Any advise for an 83 year old who has taken classes but only like your style, especially your florals.
